How did Native Americans adapt to their environments?: Shelter
As part of our study of how Native Americans adapted to their environments we gave groups a chance to try to build a shelter that would represent that of the tribes they studied. Teachers gathered both natural and craft supplies and gave the students free reign to try anything. We had natural grasses, reeds, sticks and leaves, along with material, paper, craft sticks, straws, toothpicks and so much more. Check out their amazing work!
How did Native Americans adapt to their environments?
Over the last couple of weeks our students read, researched and wrote about the many different Native American tribes that lived in the many regions of the United States.
Students used our social studies text and the Britannica School Online to gather information about how the native tribes of their assigned region used Natural Resources to adapt to the climate, and environment in which the tribe lived. They then turned notes into sentences, then created a Google Slide Show to showcase their region. Here are some examples of their work.

We're All Wonders
As a community building activity last week we read the book We're All Wonders by R.J. Palaccio.
Then we created lists of character traits and other words we could use to describe ourselves. We turned this list into a creative Wonder face project. They will be on display on our lockers this week!
